M&E Expands Survey Fleet to Fill Service Gaps

Morgan & Eklund (M&E), a hydrographic and geophysical survey services company, has been providing survey and mapping services to the public and private sectors for over 36 years with a focus on the East Coast of Florida.

With recent increases in coastal survey projects, M&E has made an investment in a new survey vessel. Joining M&E’s current fleet is a Carolina Skiff 21 LS, ideally suited to supplement our efforts for inshore, inlet, and harbor project areas. The new Carolina Skiff 21 LS is a stable platform well suited for Multibeam and Single beam data acquisition in highly shoaled environments. Our other vessels include a 16’ G3 survey skiff, a compact survey platform ideal for deployment to survey sites where vessel deployment and area ingress are limited or difficult. This vessel is generally used in calm waters, areas featuring shoals, and for technical projects such as surveys for the FP&L St. Lucie Nuclear Power facilities’ cooling intake and release canals. Our flagship primary vessel is a 25’ Parker Sport Cabin, which serves as a multipurpose platform capable of safely deploying all manner of geophysical survey equipment in offshore and nearshore scenarios.

The Carolina Skiff is outfitted with a reliable Yamaha 115Hp outboard motor and a dual axel trailer. The vessel will be used for survey projects in rivers, larger canals, inside inlets, harbor terminals, and nearshore to support the Parker efforts in difficult-to-access shoaled areas and to provide our clients the enhanced efficiency of multi-vessel acquisition on calmer days. In the coming months, this new vessel is slated to be utilized for several projects, including but not limited to inside the Sebastian Inlet and Haulover Inlets and for the City of Naples canals.

Experienced in offering services for beach restoration, hydrographic survey, water management, and coastal erosion monitoring projects, M&E is equipped with a professional and knowledgeable team. Survey operations can be performed on any of M&E’s various survey fleet vessels. M&E also utilizes a unique and top-of-the-line toolbox, including multibeam echo sounders, side scan sonar, LiDAR, and RTK GPS, to create robust and defensible data sets for decision-making by clients.
