Project Description
Morgan & Eklund, Inc. (M&E) was contracted by St. Johns County under our continuing service contract to perform beach profiles along four beaches impacted by Hurricanes Matthew and Irma.
The survey is being completed as part of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Monitoring for Beach Erosion Control Projects, Section 0100 Beach Profile Topographic Surveying for Beach Erosion Control. Ponte Vedra Beach, South Ponte Vedra Beach and Crescent Beach were the approved project areas undergoing dune repairs by truck-haul.
M&E is performing survey transects on 100’ stations and/or range monuments. Over 1,000 topographic profiles have been collected by our crews during the pre and post construction phase of the repair project. The profile line alignments were established using RTK/GPS from the FDEP monument control points designated as A-monuments. Quality control procedures for the onshore and offshore profiles include closed loop level runs and comparison of the recent profiles with historical data sets.
Deliverables are being provided in FDEP format within three days of data acquisition. Data is also provided in plan and profile view drawings in AutoCAD and .pdf formats and an XYZ file.
